New Mexico Fishing License Requirements & Pricing
In New Mexico, all anglers age 12 and older must have a valid fishing license. For those 11 and under a license is not required.

Stamp Requirements

Habitat Management & Access Validation ( HMAV ) stamp is required by New Mexico Game & Fish for all anglers excluding anglers 17 years and younger and those that receive a free fishing license and is required in addition to a standard New Mexico Fishing License or Game-hunting & Fishing License.

Who needs it? Persons 18 years of age and older who purchase a fishing, hunting, or trapping license.

Where is it Needed to fish? Required for all non excluded anglers fishing New Mexico waters.

How is it purchased? It is automatically added to your shopping cart with the first license purchase if you are 18 or older.

When is it Valid? For one license year (April 1st through March 31st).

Exemptions: Anglers 17 years of age or younger and those with any free fishing license do not need the HMAV.

Habitat Stamp is required for anglers 12 years of age and older who wish to fish on U.S. Forest Service and BLM lands in New Mexico.
